Swim with Pigs | Major’s Spot Cay, Bahamas
You read that correctly. You can swim with pigs in the clear, warm waters of the Bahamas. The adorable oinkers live on the unpopulated island in the Exumas called Major’s Spot Cay (also known these days as Pig Beach), which is easily accessed by boat from Nassau or Paradise Island. Though it’s uncertain how they got there, one story says that the tame pigs are descended from domestic stock that was kept on the island. These days, the speckled pigs have a life of luxury: napping on the beach, swimming in the bay, and getting fed treats from human visitors. This is one excursion that borders on bizarre, but it’s that very delightful quirkiness that makes it one of our top seafaring activities.
